Female Sells…

Gone are the days when Touseeq Haider and Mustansar Hussain Tarar were used to do morning transmission on PTV. According to some that golden era of PTV is long gone for never to return.

Today there are dozen channels doing morning transmissions and utilizing females as their prime source of selling. There is so much roar of Pakistan being a male dominated society and our media giants have used it well to sell their content.

It just needs a girl loaded with make up who can mimic and gossip on camera and can follow latest Indian fashion and it’s all enough to sell. Even your pronunciation and diction doesn’t matter. What you speak doesn’t counts as long as you speak fluently.

Local culture of dopatta and showing respect to elders is replaced by Indian copied dresses and dialogues. Speaking loud and yelling to make your point clear has become a norm.

Media students learn that media is actually portraying the culture of a society ,one wonders on watching Pakistani media where on the streets you find women  with uncovered heads and wearing Holly wood dress. Is media presenting our culture or transforming our culture on the name of commercial interests.

Why media don’t want to give a sense of seriousness and what the point of utilizing females other than selling? News media all over the world work as a pressure group on government while here it only work as a commercial entity making more and more money to open more channels.

Our media is never going to transform itself without a strong pressure from the public unless public don’t makes its mind change is never going to come.
